Instructions
- Prep the Apples: Wash, peel, core, and slice the Granny Smith apples.
- Cook the Apples: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter, add the sliced apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Sauté for 8-10 minutes until caramelized.
- Prepare the Custard: Whisk together eggs, granulated sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and heavy whipping cream in a large bowl until smooth.
- Brioche Bread: Cut the apple cinnamon brioche bread into 1-inch thick slices.
- Soak the Bread: Dip each slice into the custard mixture for 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Cook the French Toast: In the skillet, cook the soaked brioche slices for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Serve: Plate the French toast and top with caramelized apples, and drizzle with caramel sauce and whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Use day-old brioche for better soaking. Adjust sweetness to taste. Add nuts or spices for extra flavor.
