Description

A delicious and easy dish that combines the rich flavors of tuna with comforting pasta, perfect for warm days or quick meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces short pasta (rotini, shells, or elbow macaroni)
  • 2 cans tuna, drained well
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup peas, thawed if frozen
  • 1/4 cup chopped dill pickles or 2 tablespoons relish
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill or parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until just tender, about 8 to 10 minutes. After cooking, drain and rinse with cold water.
  2. While the pasta cooks, prepare the dressing in a large mixing bowl by combining mayonnaise, Greek yogurt (or sour cream), lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Add the drained tuna to the dressing and gently flake it with a fork until well combined.
  4. Mix in the chopped celery, red onion, peas, dill pickles, and herbs, stirring until well incorporated.
  5. Fold in the cooled pasta, ensuring it is evenly coated with the dressing.
  6. Taste the salad and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper if needed.
  7. Cover with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes for flavors to meld.
  8. Serve as a main dish or side salad, optionally garnished with fresh herbs or lemon slices.

Notes

Best eaten within three to five days. Stir in a splash of mayonnaise or yogurt before serving if the salad thickens.
