Description
Juicy ground beef sloppy joes loaded with sautéed peppers, onions, and melted provolone cheese – a Philly cheesesteak and classic comfort food mashup in every bite.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
1 small red bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 cup beef broth
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
4 sandwich buns
4 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
2. Add chopped onions, green and red bell peppers, and garlic. Sauté until vegetables are softened.
3. Season with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
4. Stir in beef broth, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
5. Toast sandwich buns lightly.
6. Spoon beef mixture onto buns and top each with a slice of provolone cheese.
7. Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
For extra flavor, add sautéed mushrooms to the beef mixture.
Use hoagie rolls instead of sandwich buns for a more authentic Philly cheesesteak feel.
Can be made ahead: prepare beef mixture in advance and reheat before assembling.
