Description
This Creamy Homemade Tiramisu Dessert is a luxurious Italian classic made with layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, rich mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa powder. Itβs elegant, no-bake, and perfect for dinner parties or celebrations.
Ingredients
**For the Cream:**
4 large egg yolks
1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
8 oz (225g) mascarpone cheese, softened
1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
**For the Coffee Layer:**
1 1/2 cups (360ml) strong brewed espresso or coffee, cooled
2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
24 ladyfingers (savoiardi biscuits)
**For Topping:**
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Dark chocolate shavings (optional)
Instructions
1. In a heatproof bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) for 5β6 minutes until pale and thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
2. Beat in mascarpone until smooth and creamy.
3. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks, then gently fold it into the mascarpone mixture until combined.
4. Combine espresso and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
5. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture (do not soak) and arrange a layer in a 9×9 inch (23 cm) dish.
6. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers and smooth evenly.
7. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining cream.
8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
9. Before serving, dust generously with cocoa powder and top with chocolate shavings.
Notes
Use high-quality mascarpone and espresso for the best flavor.
For a non-alcoholic version, skip the liqueur.
Tiramisu tastes even better after chilling overnight β the flavors fully develop.
