Description

A delightful dessert that brings the flavors of traditional German chocolate cake in a fun and simple way, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch cake pan.
  2. Mix the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  4. Cool the cake for 10 minutes before poking holes throughout.
  5. Prepare the coconut-pecan topping by cooking evaporated milk, sugar, coconut, and pecans over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes.
  6. Soak the warm mixture into the poked cake and let it cool completely.
  7. Frost the cooled cake with chocolate frosting.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
  9. Cut into squares and serve, optionally garnished with extra coconut or berries.

Notes

For a twist, try cream cheese frosting instead of chocolate.
