Description
A refreshing and satisfying meal featuring shell pasta, flaky tuna, and a creamy dill dressing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz shell pasta
- 9 oz tuna (drained and flaked)
- 3 celery ribs (finely diced)
- 1/4 cup red onion (finely diced)
- 1.5 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Dill (fresh or dried, to taste)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Once it reaches a rolling boil, add the shell pasta. Cook according to the package instructions, usually around 8 to 10 minutes, until al dente. When done, drain the pasta and rinse it under cold water to cool it down.
- Prepare ingredients: While the pasta is cooking, chop the celery into small pieces and finely dice the red onion. Open the can of tuna, draining the liquid, and then flake it into bite-sized pieces with a fork.
- Mix dressing: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, Dijon mustard, and a generous amount of dill. Season this mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Mixing the dressing well ensures that every bite of the salad is flavorful.
- Combine everything: Add the cooled pasta to the bowl with the dressing. Then, gently fold in the flaked tuna, chopped celery, diced red onion, and peas. Make sure all ingredients are mixed evenly without breaking up the pasta too much.
- Taste and adjust: Before finishing, taste the salad and adjust the seasoning as necessary. If you prefer a stronger dill flavor, feel free to add more! You can also adjust salt, pepper, or other ingredients based on your preferences.
- Refrigerate: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This step allows the flavors to meld together and the salad to become even more delicious.
- Serve: Serve the Dill Tuna Pasta Salad on a bed of greens, as a filling for sandwiches, or as a side dish. It’s versatile and can complement many meals.
Notes
For best freshness, consume within three days. Avoid freezing as the dressing may separate.
