A classic comfort food favorite, this Cheddar Shepherd’s Pie features savory ground beef and vegetables topped with creamy mashed potatoes and melted cheddar cheese. Perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup frozen peas and carrots
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
3 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Add onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
4. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, peas and carrots, salt, and pepper. Cook 3–5 minutes.
5. Transfer beef mixture to a baking dish.
6. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the beef mixture.
7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until cheese is melted and golden.
9. Serve warm.
Notes
Use fresh or frozen vegetables as preferred.
Mashed potatoes can be homemade or store-bought.
For extra flavor, sprinkle paprika or herbs on top before baking.
