Description
A hearty dish of tender beef tips in rich gravy over creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for family dinners and cozy nights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ pounds beef tips, sirloin or stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon vegetable or olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried herbs (optional)
- 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Sear the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, add the beef tips, and sear until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the Onions and Garlic: In the same pot, add chopped onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Make the Gravy Base: Sprinkle flour over the onion and garlic mixture, stir well, then gradually pour in beef broth while whisking until smooth.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the beef to the pot, add Worcestershire sauce, optional herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer gently.
- Simmer the Beef: Cover and reduce heat to low, cooking for 25-30 minutes until tender and the gravy thickens, stirring occasionally.
- Final Touches: Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve over creamy mashed potatoes and garnish with parsley.
