Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and sugar) in a large bowl.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients (milk, applesauce, and vanilla extract) in another bowl.
  5. Mix the wet and dry ingredients together gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the diced apples evenly into the batter.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Make the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters and serve immediately.
