  • Yield: 46 pop-tarts 1x

Description

A fun and creative lunch idea—homemade Taco Pop-Tarts filled with seasoned beef, cheese, and a touch of salsa, baked until golden and flaky.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet puff pastry or pie dough, thawed

1/2 lb ground beef

1/4 cup onion, finely chopped

1 tsp taco seasoning

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2 tbsp salsa

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional toppings: sour cream, chopped cilantro

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in taco seasoning and salsa. Remove from heat.

3. Roll out dough and cut into rectangles (about 3×4 inches).

4. Place a spoonful of beef mixture and some cheese in the center of half the rectangles.

5. Top with remaining rectangles and press edges to seal. Brush with beaten egg.

6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.

7. Serve warm with optional toppings like sour cream or cilantro.

Notes

You can make these ahead and store in the fridge before baking.

Adjust spice level according to taste.

Other fillings like chicken or beans can be used.
